Mayor Greg Williamson Mackay Regional Council

Greg is a 5th generation Mackay local and brought with him a wealth of business, political, community and defence experience when he returned to Council as Mayor in March 2016. He served as Mayor of Mackay City Council from 1991 to 1994, prior to the amalgamation of the City and Pioneer Shire, and in the 22 years since he has had a broad career in General Management.

At one of Australia’s largest Human Resource companies – Chandler MacLeod – Greg was the Regional General manager for QLD and NT. He was the founding General Manager of national aerospace staffing firm Aero Ready; and then had 8 years’ experience in General Management in heavy engineering supply and service to the Queensland resources sector.

Greg has an organisational reputation focus, demonstrated expertise in people management, and a passionate commitment to community service. Outside of public life, he is a current licenced pilot and had over thirty-five years’ service in the Australian Air Force Cadets retiring as the National Commander of the 8000-strong organisation when he was elected Mayor in 2016.

Greg is married to Annette and they have two adult children.

Melinda is a partner in local accounting firm Inspire Accounting and Business Services Pty Ltd and has lived in Mackay most of her life, having moved to Mackay at 11 years old. She is a Chartered Accountant, CPA and a Financial Planning Authorised Representative and has over 20 years’ experience as a public accountant. She is also a Self Managed Superannuation specialist within her firm.

She juggles her responsibilities as a mum of two boys with full time work acting for over 100 businesses in the Mackay region. Melinda works very closely with Master Builders and acts for some of Mackay’s largest and most successful property developers and has developed significant expertise in the building and construction and property development industries as well as having a keen interest in the local property market.

Melinda is active in the community currently serving as a committee member of the Flagon and Dragon Fundraiser and supporting several local charities and initiatives. She has also served as a Board member of Emmanuel Catholic Primary School.
